Bus and ferry from Nakhon Sri Thammarat to Koh Samui for 800 THB or less. The bus leaves Nakhon Sri Thammarat at 7:30 and 10:30 in the morning. The bus trip takes around 4 hours and 30 minutes and then you will be guided to change to the ferry at Surat Thani town. The ferry trip takes another 1 hour and 15 minutes before you reach Koh Samui Maenam Pier.

If you want to experience a bit more than just a beach, then don’t miss the following:

• Get a motorbike to the Secret Buddha Garden which is just beautiful and mysterious. There are hundreds of antique statues covered with green and which is situated right in the jungle. It is absolutely beautiful and worth seeing. Just don’t forget the mosquito spray!
• Stop by the restaurant on the way to Secret Buddha Garden. It has an amazing view over Koh Samui and also has an infinity pool which blends with the sky being hidden in the middle of the mountain and is great to chill in on a hot day.
• Find a hiking trail to Tan Rua Waterfall (a little hint: you can rent a bike and cycle your way to the waterfall!)
• Experience Buddhist culture in Big Buddha Temple (Wat Phra Yai) and see the 12 meter golden statue of Buddha and then stop by the breathtaking temple complex named Wat Plai Laem (the place with a huge Happy Buddha and Guanyin goddess statues)
• And just for the fun of it, stop by the Grandfather’s and Grandmother’s rocks (Hin Ta Hin Yai)
